What performance parts should I add to my 1995 Mazda Miata?
I already have an AM exhaust, K&N intake, and NGK spark wires, way else guys?
From a long term ownership point of view-
Get the header checked out, these do crack and when they do performance and fuel economy are hurt. I installed OBX 4-2-1 long tubes on mine because the price was right.
The next item takes a few more buck and it might be just as well to put it on your shopping/wish list -
A light weight flywheel, I use a 11 lb one with a full clutch disk. While this does not increase HP, it frees up some horses for acceleration purposes.
For the suspension, think about Gabriel’s. These are equal to some of the “name brand” up grade shocks that are for those who don’t care for all the bells and whistles of those that are adjustable.
I also installed a Magna Flow cat on mine, but from looking at the insides of the ones I took off I am not convinced it helped.
I am not convinced yet that a cold air intake will do that much for a Miata, on one I run a K&N panel in the stock box and the other a short cone. The longer the straw the harder it is to move fluid through it and the length of the air intake runner is already too long for my liking. There is a replacement tube that some use between the air filter and the throttle which many claim helps. At present I am considering extending the air flow sensor wiring and to relocate the sensor to shorten that run.
Oil is a cheap up-grade, stay with the lighter weights that are recommended in the owners manual.
